Hilltop Honey named as official gel partner

Ospreys are buzzing to have the UK’s fastest growing honey brand, Hilltop Honey’s, newly launched Hilltop Energy Gels in their kitbags this year.

Ospreys are proud to support the heroes of the hives as they diversify onto the sports pitch, signing Hilltop Energy as their gel partner for the upcoming year.

As supporters of natural, sustainable, local producers, Ospreys jumped at the chance of partnering with Hilltop as their sports energy gel partner.

Osprey’s Head of Physical Performance Simon Church commented, “Players will trial the gels, take them to matches, use them in training, on match days, in development pathways and our club-wide network of academies.”

In a move away from standard honey markets, Managing Director of Hilltop Honey and much-acclaimed ambassador for Wales, Scott Davies said

“In our quest to become a leading natural sports nutrition brand, we have high hopes for our Ospreys partnership. Our venture into sports nutrition has begun with 100% natural energy gels with minimal ingredients, but maximum performance. Perfect for rugby where players are exerting energy over prolonged periods.”

“The decider in signing as Ospreys energy gel provider was witnessing the energy of the 10,000 strong fans at the Ospreys vs Scarlets game earlier this year, when Ospreys took a 54-point lead, the energy in the stadium was infectious and when the final whistle went, we couldn’t fail to see the passion of the supporters in the stands.”

Hilltop Energy will also become the proud player sponsor of current Welsh international, ex Irish Lions and Ospreys flanker Dan Lydiate. Brought up in Llandrindod Wells, Dan continues his family’s livestock farming legacy off the pitch, with his own herd of cattle. A passionate supporter of sustainable, natural and local producers,

Dan added “I’m thrilled we’ve got Hilltop Energy in our kit bags this season, to have a natural energy gel rather than a sugary based product is so much better for the team and I can’t wait to see the results.”

Hilltop Honey will be working closely with the Ospreys sports science team and players to evolve their sporting product range.

Ospreys Commercial Director Anthony Cole-Johnson added: “This relationship with Hilltop Honey demonstrates again how our strategy to partner with both local and national brands is working.

"Hilltop Honey bring with them both Welsh heritage and a national footprint as well as innovation, and I know personally they are 100% behind supporting the Ospreys moving forward in both the URC and Heineken Cup this season.”
