The Ospreys will launch an exciting new commercial partnership with Italian Prosecco brand FIOL this weekend, ahead of their Heineken Cup clash with Benetton Treviso in the Veneto region of northern Italy on Sunday.
The new relationship is the latest for the Ospreys in Italy since the introduction of Italians teams to the Celtic League in 2010. Construction firm Stabili have featured on the Ospreys playing strip for the last two seasons, while formal relationships with ASR Milano and Rugby Rovigo have seen player and coaching exchanges, with up and coming Ospreys Scott Baldwin and Jack Jones benefiting from loan spells in Italy to help with their on and off field development.
Prosecco is a traditional sparkling white wine, usually made from Glera, or ‘Prosecco’ grapes, in Veneto, to the north of Treviso, where the partnership will be launched on Saturday evening at Villa Tiepolo Passi, a 16th century Venetian stately home and residence of the Conti Passi de Preposulo family.
Ospreys skipper Alun Wyn Jones will officially launch the partnership in the presence of Ospreys directors and commercial partners, from both the UK and Italy, along with FIOL executives and their guests. It follows on from FIOL’s recent launch into Hong Kong, at the stylish Armani/Aqua restaurant.
Yarnie Guthrie, Ospreys Commercial Manager, commented:
“We are delighted to be able to launch our new partnership with FIOL this weekend. Just as we see real value in the Italian market and already have in place a number of successful commercial and sporting partnerships, FIOL is an innovative, forward thinking and successful Italian brand looking to grow into the UK market.
“They see a relationship with the Ospreys, as four times Celtic League champions and a business with a similar outlook to themselves, as a good way of raising their profile and helping them to achieve those aims.
“With the game in Treviso on Sunday, right at the heart of Prosecco producing country, it seemed the perfect opportunity to launch the partnership on Saturday night ahead of the game, allowing partners from both the UK and Italy to come together in a traditional Venetian environment and celebrate our new relationship.”
FIOL president, Mr. Tito Ciani Bassetti stated:
“We are enthusiastic about the collaboration with Ospreys Rugby. We are happy to associate our brand with a team that strongly represents a sport that is still maintaining its strong values. The FIOL team is very passionate about rugby and our company shares the values of dedication and sacrifice that are common in all rugby players. We hope to participate in Ospreys Rugby future success, celebrating with our Prosecco!”
