The Ospreys have announced that CityJet will be the official match day sponsor of the forthcoming Welsh derby clash against Cardiff at the Liberty Stadium.
The partnership will see CityJet feature in promotional and advertising activities in the build-up to the game and on matchday, including pitch-side branding, match day programme, an in-stadium TV presence, bespoke social media campaigns and giveaways.
The sponsorship deal comes as CityJet recently opened four new routes from Cardiff, offering direct flights to popular destinations such as Paris and Glasgow which are both available to book now. Routes to Edinburgh and Jersey will follow on the 30th of March and 17th of April. By mid-summer there will be in excess of 80 flights in and out of Cardiff.
With CityJet Ospreys fans can also follow their team for the next away game against the Glasgow Warriors, which takes place on 28 March at the Scotstoun Stadium, Glasgow. Fans can choose from two daily return flights from Cardiff to Glasgow, with fares starting from £99 return.
With the Ospreys needing to defeat their capital city rivals to keep their push for the play-offs going, the fixture on Friday 21st March (7.05pm KO) promises to be a big occasion with one of the largest Liberty Stadium crowds of the season present. Both teams will be boosted by the return of their international contingent, raising the profile of the fixture even further.
Simon Spinks, CityJet’s Chief Commercial Officer said:
“We recently launched a new network from Cardiff, providing vital connections from Wales to Scotland, Jersey and France and are continuing to strengthen our connection with Wales. In building new relationships, it made perfect sense to us, as major supporters of rugby, to partner with Wales' leading region, the Ospreys.
“We also, of course, hope that after the match, we’ll be welcoming the many Ospreys fans on our flights to Glasgow for the next game, introducing them to the CityJet experience. We are excited to start our relationship with Ospreys and look forward to seeing the two teams battle it out on the 21st!”
Yarnie Guthrie, Ospreys Commercial Manager, said:
“We are delighted to be able to welcome CityJet to our expanding network of business partners and look forward to hopefully growing this relationship over the coming months and years.
“Operating out of the national airport for Wales, it makes perfect sense for CityJet to team up with the leading Welsh rugby region, with the Welsh derby against Cardiff being the perfect opportunity for them to enjoy their first experience as an official partner of the Ospreys.”
