Liberty Stadium chiefs are advising Ospreys fans attending Friday night’s Celtic League clash with Border Reivers of changes to the Stadium Travel Plan for rugby fans.

The Stadium Management Company has confirmed that the Swansea Vale Park & Ride will not be in operation for the match that gets underway at 7.10pm. Instead, supporters are advised that they can use the Landore Park & Ride facility adjacent to the stadium, just a five-minute walk to the turnstiles, at a cost of £4 per car. The car park will be open from 5.00 pm. In addition, fans coming from the south of the city can continue to park at County Hall free of charge and catch a First Cymru scheduled bus service from the Quadrant Bus Station.

The Swansea Vale facility will now remain out of use for Ospreys fixtures other than where a larger than average attendance is anticipated. However, it will continue to operate for Swans matches at the stadium.

A spokesman for Swansea Stadium Management Company commented:

“We are constantly reviewing our travel strategy to ensure that access to and from Liberty Stadium on a match-day is as smooth as possible, adopting a flexible approach to meet the changing needs of fans.

“With the availability of the ‘Park & Walk’ facility at Landore, usage at the Swansea Vale site has dropped as Ospreys supporters are opting to choose the convenience of parking so close to the stadium. Because of this, it is not considered financially prudent to offer the full Travel Plan other than on the occasions when a larger crowd is anticipated, for example, the local derby with Llanelli Scarlets in April.

“We will continue to review arrangements on a match-to-match basis and will ensure that supporters are kept fully informed at all times. We would like to stress though, that Swansea City supporters will be unaffected by these changes, as the Swansea Vale Park & Ride facility will continue to operate on Swans match-days.”
