Ospreys to remember the fallen

By Ospreys Rugby | 01/11/2018

The Ospreys will remember and honour all those who have fallen in battle ahead of Friday night’s Guinness PRO14 game against Conference A leaders Glasgow Warriors at the Liberty Stadium.

Ahead of Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday, players, management and supporters from both the Ospreys and Glasgow will pause ahead of kick-off to pay their respects to the sacrifices made by members of the Armed Forces who have been killed or wounded serving their country.

The two teams will enter the field together ahead of a reading, while Chris Smith of the Salvation Army will play the Last Post and Reveille. Both captains will lay a wreath pitchside ahead of a minute silence immediately before the 7.35pm kick-off.

In addition, the Ospreys players will visibly show their support for the Royal British Legion’s annual Poppy Appeal when they wear special poppies on their match jersey.

Members of the Army Cadet Force from across the Region will be in attendance, collecting on behalf of the Poppy Appeal from 6.00pm onwards.

Supporters attending the game are requested to be inside the ground and in place early to avoid causing any unintended disruption to the tribute. Turnstiles open at 6.35pm, an hour before kick-off.
