A CLASSIS ENCOUNTER

ATHLETIC TRIUMPHANT

This was a repeat of last years final and proved to be another great game of rugby with the Athletic becoming Ospreys Champions and well deserved winners. However from the start Tondu took the game to the Athletic side but the defense of the Athletic held strong with the back row of John Paul Budd, William Thomas and Tom Phillips putting in a very high tackle count, and closing Tondu down .

The Athletic backs held out the strong Tondu midfield with the centre partnership of Tom Carpenter and Owain Evans keeping out the opposition on every occasion.

The Athletic took the lead after some good forwards work from Chris Morgan, Rhys Pilliner and Scott Bryant saw Ryan Williams go blind to give a perfectly timed pass to centre Owain Evans to see the speedy winger go on a great run to secure the first try. Tondu replied with a try from Ben Evans.

After taking most of the pressure the Athletic half backs pairing of Oliver Olds and Josh Miles (Captain) started to direct the play and put runners into space, with second row Alex Evans having some superb runs towards the Tondu try line. The Athletic wings Jacob David and Daniel James always looked dangerous with ball in hand. Whilst once again the ever safe Ryan Jones had another great game under the high ball, solid in defense and strong in attack.

The Athletic pilled on the pressure which saw William Thomas force is way over for a try which Ryan Jones converted giving the Athletic a 12 -- 5 half time lead.

The Athletic now looked dangerous every time they attacked and to Tondus credit they never gave up however the Athletic added another try by Olds to go 17- 5 up and looked like sealing a notable victory.

Tondu continued to try to break the Athletic line but could find no way through this solid defense line, Athletic chance the whole Front Row with Josh Collins, Aaron Jenkins and Tyler Williams coming on to defending well, solid performances also came from Aled Phillips, William Bevan.Adam Wellington and Nathan Collins .The Athletic went further ahead when full back Ryan Jones added a penalty.

Ben Evan grabbed a last minute try for Tondu but by then the Athletic new they were the new 2005 / 2006 Under 13s OSPREYS CUP CHAMPIONS.

The Athletic have scored over 1,200 for this season conceding only 54, they would like to thank Josh Llewellyn Chairman of GENSET plc for sponsoring their kit for the final
