Bridgend businesses welcome back Ospreys ahead of return to town

The Ospreys have teamed up with business networking body Introbiz to put on the event, which will feature speeches from players and senior management at the Ospreys as well as some of Bridgend's most respected business executives.

"Collaboration is more important than ever in these challenging times and events such as this represent a win-win scenario for both our members and the Ospreys," said Tracey Jenkins, Director of Introbiz (UK).

"It will be an opportunity to network with a vibrant selection of businesses from outside our area while hearing from some fascinating business leaders at the same time."

The business community of Bridgend have always given a warm welcome to the Ospreys since the Bridgend region was formally made part of the Ospreys region in 2004. Business leaders have welcomed the return of top flight rugby to the town saying it represents a welcome boost for the local economy.

Andrew Hore, Chief Operations Officer of the Ospreys, expressed how important the Bridgend business community is to the region:

"Businesses in the Bridgend area have always been very supportive and we have some great partners there already. But we are looking forward to this event because it allows us to open even more doors and explain to businesses what we are trying to achieve as a region."

Some of Bridgend's biggest employers have also given their support to the event including SONY, one of the Ospreys key partners. Steve Dalton OBE, Managing Director of the Sony UK Technology Centre in Bridgend, said:

"It is fantastic to welcome the Ospreys back to Bridgend and see top flight rugby being played at the Brewery Field once again. We work closely with the Ospreys as a community partner and know first-hand how they are committed throughout the region, promoting rugby as the catalyst for life-long learning skills for our next generation. In addition, this fixture provides great opportunities for the business network of Bridgend to come together."

This view is echoed by other local businesses, such as Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment and Training, a company that has long supported rugby in the area.

"Years ago, the firm was a major sponsor of Neath and Bridgend rugby clubs so personally and from a company perspective, it is excellent to have a top class rugby team coming to the town," said Alyson Harrington, director of recruitment at Jennifer Griffiths Recruitment and Training.

"We will definitely be coming to the game and supporting the boys."

The Ospreys work closely with the local authority to hold such games and the occasions are welcomed by Bridgend Council.

"The match between the Ospreys and the Harlequins will offer people a welcome chance to witness some first-class rugby action in Bridgend County Borough," said Mel Nott, the Leader of Bridgend Council.

"The local community is passionate about rugby, and I am sure that there will be a big turn-out and that people will show their support for this event. The match is also going to offer a big boost for town centre trade as spectators and fans make their way to Bridgend County Borough."
