Biggar reflects on New Year's Day derby victory

Speaking to the media post-match, the young fly-half said:

"It was a typical Welsh derby I suppose, lots of passion and pride at stake and nobody taking a backward step, there were a lot of confrontations along the way. I think that's the way the Welsh derbies over Christmas should be. It was a good effort from forwards and backs combined, and we are just fortunate, and grateful, to have come out on top at the end.

"We started very well, we got an early three points and we built on that with two good tries from Nikki, and once we got in front we never really looked like giving up that lead. We got lucky at times, like when Ben Blair hit the post with a penalty and missed another one, but it's a great win, a great start to 2010 and to a very big month for us.

"We're obviously delighted to have recorded such a big win, and particularly, to have kept them out and nilled them. It's quite an achievement and was a reward for some good defensive work. We are slowly getting it right as a team, but we realise that we are still working towards getting to where we want to be. We could have been more clinical at times today, and we're disappointed that we didn't close out a bonus point, but overall, we have to be pleased with the result.

"You don't win anything in January, we want to stay in the top four for May and the Play-Offs, so we aren't going to get carried away with going to the top of the table. We have a massive month ahead, our next game is Ulster away next weekend and we're gearing up for that one so it's no weekend off for us, we're in again on Sunday and training extremely hard to prepare for that one. "
