Ospreys Host Open Trials For Girls Age-grade Sides

The Ospreys are to host a series of open trials for female rugby players over the summer as they look to increase the number of girls playing rugby across the region.
OSPREYS HOST OPEN TRIALS FOR GIRLS AGE-GRADE SIDES
The Community Rugby Department already host a number of coaching sessions to benefit girls rugby, and the new trials will hopefully strengthen the options available to the Ospreys at Under-15 and Under-18 level, as girls rugby goes from strength to strength on the back of a successful year for Wales' senior national side.
There are three separate dates on which trials are taking place at Cwrt Herbert Playing Fields in Neath, on Friday 22nd May, Friday 19th June, and Friday 17th July.
The Ospreys Girls teams compete in the WRU Girls Regional League, playing in a round-robin tournament, playing against the other three regions and North Wales, the same as the set-up for boys age-grade rugby. The competition, and the teams, form part of the player development pathway for the national Under-20 side, allowing the region and the WRU to identify new talent for ongoing development.
Jason Lewis, WRU Ospreys Community Development Manager, said:
"These are important trials for us, as they will allow us to look at suitable candidates to involve in next season's WRU Girls Regional League. It is the second year of official age grade competition and we can only see it growing in popularity.
"Any girls who have had a taste of rugby already, and would like the opportunity to be involved in competitive rugby under the Ospreys banner should come along to Cwrt Herbert on the dates available, where they will have their chance to impress."
