Inviting Ospreys Player Development Coaches

In support of the skill development of young representative players within the Ospreys Regions Junior District Associations, we would like to offer an open invitation to all coaches with suitable qualifications and experience to become involved with the Ospreys Community Department as one of our Player Development Coaches.

As part of their duties, Ospreys Player Development Coaches will be required to:

Attend and deliver player development sessions once a week with their appointed age group, under the guidance of the Ospreys Player Development Officers, and where appropriate age group head coaches.
Make unbiased selections of players from their squads to represent their age group during representative fixtures.
Attend match days in order to prepare their teams for competition.
Ospreys Player Development Coaches will be expected to conduct themselves in the following manner:

Wear Ospreys provided coaching attire when on duty
Assist in the planning of player development session
Coordinate delivery with fellow age group coaches
Demonstrate recognition and compliance with Health and Safety practices (Safe)
Player Centred delivery
o Asking questions to promote player reflection
o Scenario setting, mimicking game situations to develop player learning
o Capable of utilising game sense
Innovation and variety in training
Self reflect upon and evaluate each coaching delivery
Promote player development under the Ospreys '6 Pillars of Development'
o Technical, Tactical, Physical, Psychological, Nutritional, Holistic
Demonstrate the ethos of player development, as directed by the PDOs o (Win vs. Player Development)
Be pro-active in their own personal development (CPD events and seek feedback) Candidates applying for these positions must satisfy the Essential criteria as detailed below:
