Ospreys team to visit Tonmawr

The fixture, at the Premiership club's Whitworth Ground home, will allow a number of Ospreys players to get an opportunity to show the coaching team what they can do ahead of a busy February and March schedule. In addition, following on from the pre-season friendly against a Regional Select XV at Aberavon and the successful LV= Cup switch to Bridgend's Brewery Field in November, it provides another opportunity for the Ospreys to get out into the local community and for fans to get closer to the players.

Ospreys Elite Performance Director, Andrew Hore, said:

"This game is an important one on a number of fronts. It's a great opportunity for some of our players to get game time against a team who have proven to be very competitive in the Welsh Premiership this season, while it will be brilliant for us to visit one of the clubs at the heart of the region and really help to bring the local community in the Pelenna Valley and the Ospreys closer together.

"We hope that there will be a good crowd at the Whitworth Ground for what should be a great evening of rugby. We love going out to our regional clubs after some fantastic experiences in the past at Maesteg, Aberavon and Bridgend."

Jason Hyatt, Head Coach of Tonmawr RFC, said that everybody at the club is looking forward to the match:

"It's a great honour for Tonmawr to be able to host an Ospreys Select XV for this fixture. We've got a great relationship with the Ospreys that is continuing to grow since the start of the season.This game will be a brilliant exercise for Tonmawr, especially for our younger players who may have ambitions and aspirations of playing regional rugby.

"It's not just about the match though. We are privileged to be able to welcome the Ospreys and it will be a great occasion for the club. We have a thriving junior section here and it will be a fantastic opportunity for our youngsters to get up close to the Ospreys and see for themselves what rugby at that level is all about."
