Tournament Report

The Ospreys give a very strong indication of what was to come by beating South East 17-0 in the next game. With very strong forward platform allowed the backs to make great in-roads into South East's defence with runs from both wings Rosie Fletcher & Alys Lloyd to set up tries for scrum-half Natalie Watkins (X2) and captain Jessica Smith with a conversion coming from Sam Davies.

Ospreys now through to the semi-final of the plate competition were drawn against Thames Valley. With the Ospreys camped in the opposition's 22 for most of the game it proved to be the last pass, which went astray on a number of occasions and a disallowed try from Natalie Watkins, took the game into extra time. From the kick off the Ospreys again forced Thames Valley back and concede a penalty just out of kicking range. With a kick for touch, the resulting lineout proved to strong for Thames Valley and a catch a drive allowed again scrum half Natalie Watkins to cross the try line putting the Ospreys into the Final of the plate competition.

In the final the Ospreys met South West North which turned into a battle of defences. With the Ospreys forwards defence proving to strong for S.W.N. and the S.W.N. backs keeping the Ospreys at bay. With the fist half finishing score less the second looked to be going the same way until the ospreys conceded a penalty in front of the posts. The resulting penalty kick was missed and from the drop out the Ospreys drove hard into the opposition half forcing them to conceded a penalty to the right of the posts. Up stepped Full Back Sam Davies who calmly kick the ball clean through the middle of the posts and give the Ospreys a 3-0 Lead. The remaining minutes continued the same with both defences working overtime, but at the final whistle the Ospreys were victorious.

Overall the Ospreys with a injury hit squad gave a very good showing of themselves with only conceding one try in the whole of the competition to the event winners East.
