Ospreys Host Club Development Session At Bonymaen Rfc

OSPREYS HOST CLUB DEVELOPMENT SESSION AT BONYMAEN RFC

The session, which takes place at the rugby club on Wednesday 8^th July, will see Community Coaches working with youngsters to give them a taste of the game, with a view to signing up to play for their local club next season at Under-8 and Under-9 level.

In the build up to the event, the Ospreys Community Team will visit local primary schools between 22^nd June and 3^rd July to deliver a short coaching session to children in years two, three and four, and invite them to attend the Bonymaen RFC event.

Jason Lewis, WRU Ospreys Community Development Manager, commented:

"Bonymaen RFC is traditionally one of the biggest and most successful clubs in Swansea, from age grade through to the senior side, and is very much at the heart of the local community. However, like other clubs in this day and age, it faces a struggle to recruit new children to its mini section with there being so many alternative attractions for youngsters these days.

"They have approached us to see what we can do to help, and off the back of that, we have agreed to host a special Club Development Session and to provide our coaches to work in the local schools during the build up to this, helping create some interest and excitement amongst local children. Hopefully, this will then encourage them to take up the game in their spare time and discover the thrills of playing rugby with your mates for your local club.

"The health and social benefits of these youngsters getting involved with Bonymaen RFC are clear, and we are delighted to assist one of our local clubs in this way. The more people we are able to encourage to play the game and take their first steps along the development pathway, the stronger that rugby will be as a whole in Ospreylia."

The Club Development Session is taking place at Bonymaen RFC on Wednesday 8^th July, between 6 and 7pm.
