Skipper hails team spirit that carried Ospreys to victory

The Ospreys captain was a nervous spectator for much of the closing stages after a late yellow card, but he paid tribute to his team-mates for their efforts that took them over the finishing line to secure a historic win in Limerick. He said:

"It's not a very nice place to be, in the sinbin, but I think the boys did superbly for that last ten minutes. They bailed me out, I could have been in a spot more bother here now if we hadn't have got it. That's the measure of this team, they all dug deep, which is something we have done all year and possibly haven't got the credit for, and they managed to hold out in the end.

"We came out here with a job to do. I think the boys stuck to the game plan very well, which is probably what we haven't done in recent weeks, and we got our just reward. I think we deserved that win.

"Tonight was about building on that belief. In recent weeks we probably feel we have let ourselves down. We haven't played as well as we could and I think tonight we did.

"We made less errors tonight, we played a bit more territory and I thought we defended superbly.

"It's a shame that this wasn't a Heineken Cup semi, but we said that we wanted to be in the play-offs, it's something to play for at the end of the season, and that's where we are. We will try to go on with the focus, to get something out of the season, and a Magners League win will be nice."
