Bridgend gets ready to welcome the Ospreys

The historic game against reigning English champions Leicester Tigers for an LV= Cup fixture has caused a stir across the county, with ticket sales accelerating this week at both the Liberty Stadium Ticket Office and the home of Bridgend RFC itself, and the scene is set for a great occasion.

Ensuring a warm welcome is in place for the Ospreys, is Councillor Mel Nott, Leader of Bridgend County Borough Council, who said:

"As a keen rugby fan, I am delighted to be able to welcome the Ospreys and the Tigers to Bridgend County Borough.

"It is a privilege for the area to play host to such an important event in the rugby world and I am sure that local residents will come and support the game on Friday 12 November."

David Rees, Managing Director of Bridgend RFC, echoed Councillor Nott's words, commenting:

"Everybody involved with Bridgend RFC is really looking forward to what promises to be a wonderful occasion. We have a tremendous facility at the Riverside Hardware Brewery Field, and it makes a fitting venue for a game like the Ospreys against Leicester Tigers.

"We are very proud of our association with the Ospreys and are delighted to get the opportunity to stage the match here, which hopefully will be the first of many regular visits to Bridgend for the team. To have them here is a fantastic boost for the whole of the county as the eyes of the rugby world will be firmly on Bridgend on Friday evening.

"Tickets are going well and there will be a good crowd there to generate a fantastic atmosphere, ensuring that the night will be a roaring success."

Ospreys Managing Director, Roger Blyth, added:

"The response we've had from the people of Bridgend has been absolutely brilliant. It is a huge part of the region and it's important that we get out to all corners of Ospreylia to make sure that the local communities feel a real part of what we are attempting to do.

"I played at Bridgend RFC so many times in my career and I am well aware of the passionate rugby community in the area, and the fantastic atmosphere that can be generated at the ground. Everybody at the Ospreys is looking forward to being a part of that on Friday evening."

Tickets will remain available to purchase at the ground on the day of the game itself right up until kick-off.
