"A point was the very least we wanted from this game"

Giving his reaction to the assembled journalists at Stade Mayol, Jones said:

"We spoke about Heineken Cup rugby in the week, we said that it doesn't just go 79 minutes, it's an 80 minute game. We were leading going into the last couple of minutes but they managed to work us, to shorten our defensive lineout, and that gave them a little bit of space for Sackey out wide and he took the only chance they had all game very well, in the 79^th minute.

"From the restart they did what you'd expect them to do, they kept the ball tight like they had been all game and, basically, suffocated us, stopped us from getting our hands on the ball again.

"We were fairly pleased with the way the lineout went, it was attritional stuff, but we'll take pleasure from the way the scrum played out, that is a positive we'll take from this and move forward. We maybe should have capitalised on it more, when we were in their 22, but overall our set-piece was good.

"It was hot out there, like I said, it was attritional, and it was difficult. Our kicking game in the first half probably wasn't where we'd expect it to be, we couldn't get any territory and I think it told.

"We won't know whether this is a point won or four points lost until the end of the pool stages really, we won't see whether this was a good or bad point until it's the final game of the competition. We've just got to concentrate on what we do know, and that is, that we've got some tough games coming up in this competition, and we need to prepare for them all thoroughly as we are still very much in it.

"There was nothing untoward at the end, we were being communicated to properly that the stadium clock was two minutes slow, by all the match officials, so there is no complaint from us about that. It wasn't a factor on the outcome at all.

"A point was the very least we wanted from this game so we've done that, but the way it played out we're all very disappointed to come away with just the point to be honest as we did enough to win it.

"You are always going to hurt if you are leading with 76 or 77 on the clock and you lose the game. The sign of a good side is being able to bounce back from disappointment like this. We showed that we can do it last season when we lost to Biarritz and came back strongly to win the Magners League and I'd expect a similar response from the boys this week."
