Ospreys confirm silence ahead of Ulster match

There will be a one-minute period of silence at the Liberty Stadium before Sunday's RaboDirect PRO12 game against Ulster in memory of the four miners who lost their lives in the Gleision Colliery tragedy, with a bucket collection to follow at the Ospreys V Scarlets derby at the start of November.
Phillip Hill, 45, Garry Jenkins, 39, David Powell, 50, and Charles Breslin, 62, died after they became trapped underground at the mine in Cilybebyll, near Pontardawe, last Thursday. Three other miners escaped, one of whom was taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea.
The silence will also remember young Ospreys fan Harry Patterson, aged five, who also lost his life last week in tragic circumstances at his family home in Alltwen, just a few miles away from Gleision Colliery in the Swansea Valley.
Andrew Hore, Chief Operations Officer at the Ospreys, said:
"As everyone will be painfully aware, last week was a very sad time for the people of the Swansea Valley, and for the wider Ospreylian community, and it is only right that as a community we take time out ahead of Sunday's game to just pause for a few moments in remembrance of those who can't be with us at the Liberty Stadium. I have no doubt that our supporters will want to join the team and officials in paying their respects.
"We have also arranged for a bucket collection in aid of the Swansea Valley Miners Appeal to be held at our match against the Scarlets on Saturday 5th November.
"Although still a few weeks away, we believe that by arranging the collection for this match in particular, where we are expecting what will be our biggest crowd of the season to that point, we will be able to highlight such a worthwhile appeal fund to a wider audience, ensuring that we are able to raise a more substantial sum to benefit the families of the victims of this awful tragedy."
