Season 2006-2007
In the final match of their 2006-2007 Magners League season the Ospreys clinched their second Championship crown in three seasons with victory over the Borders
Although as a region, the Ospreys were engaging fully with the regional concept (working closely with the 70+ clubs within the Swansea, Neath/Port Talbot & Bridgend authorities), many questioned the real commitment to the region as a whole, given that the Ospreys trademark was based on the Neath & Swansea RFC emblems. So at the outset of this season, the region decided to re-brand, and as was revealed at the Sponsors Shirt Launch in August 2006, the new mask logo took pride of place on the shirt.

The 2006/07 season turned out to be quite a remarkable year, with the Ospreys claiming the Magners League title for the second time in its brief history, this time by a single point. There were other notable highlights to this season though, with the Ospreys playing host to the Australian Tourists, and not only were we the first ever Welsh region to host an International Team, but we were also victorious, with Paul James as captain lifting the npower renewables trophy before the first ever capacity crowd at the Liberty Stadium (20520).

A month later, we registered our second capacity crowd, when on Boxing Day we successfully beat our local rivals, the Llanelli Scarlets. The European Cup campaign was extremely competitive, with a notable last minute victory over Sale Sharks, but progression into the knockout stages, something the Ospreys had yet to achieve, was denied after an agonizing draw against Stade Francais at the Liberty Stadium.

Despite this disappointment, having battled through the pool & semi final stages of the EDF Energy Cup (Anglo-Welsh), we narrowly lost in an exhilarating game to Leicester Tigers (35-42) at Twickenham Stadium, but not without a traveling support of over 10,000 Ospreys fans enjoying the Cup Final experience.
