Following the demise of the Celtic Warriors just before the start of the 2004/5 season, the Ospreys not only inherited the Bridgend Unitary Authority area, but also benefited from the acquisition of some outstanding players to bolster the squad for the coming season. Players such as Sonny Parker, Brent Cockbain, Ryan Jones and David Bishop added steel and ability to an already young and exciting squad.

The Ospreys´ second season saw them snatch the Celtic League title from local rivals, Llanelli Scarlets, who had won it the previous year. This was a remarkable achievement and testament to the strength in depth of the squad, particularly given the number of International call-ups that season.

Although the Ospreys had achieved success in the Celtic competition, the European Cup quarter-finals proved elusive again, but a strong performance against Munster, a team considered one of the strongest in Europe, proved how far they had come in a relatively short space of time.

During this season, in an attempt to bolster the squad with some overseas talent (a trend that all our European rivals had followed), the Ospreys signed New Zealand full-back, Adrian Cashmore, who had impressed during his performances against the British Lions that year.
