Ospreys go out into the community

Ospreys players will be joining Ospreys in the Community coaches at special club evenings around the region to kick start the new season.

Ospreys in the Community will once again be hosting training sessions to reward the most active mini and junior sections at clubs around Ospreylia.

Starting at Penlan RFC tonight, the OitC coaches and Ospreys players will visit ten Ospreylian clubs to provide coaching sessions for their young players.

As well as a fun opportunity for the children to be taught by, and play with, Ospreys players, the club’s coaches will also learn new techniques and coaching ideas from the Ospreys in the Community coaches, as they lead the training sessions.

Ospreys in the Community Programme Co-ordinator, Tom Sloane, said:

“These events, this year at ten clubs around the region, are a great opportunity to get out into the community at grassroots level and help the mini and junior teams.

“The coaches of the clubs volunteer their time and effort and do a great job so it’s nice to be able to go and support them and help them with some new ideas for their training sessions.

“The kids love having the Ospreys players come down to their team. They get to meet them, have their photo with them and learn from them, so it also offers clubs a chance to promote themselves, as well as the game, within their area and aid player recruitment to their junior sections which is a fantastic bonus all around.”
