Williams is Best Newcomer

Young Ospreys centre, Kieran Williams, has been named Principality Premiership Best Newcomer.

The 20-year old former Glynneath and YG Ystalyfera youngster picked up the award following a breakthrough season where he has shone for Neath in the Premiership, with Wales U20 and on regional duty with the Ospreys Premiership Select XV.

A former WRU regional age-grade champion, scoring two tries in the 2015 Final win over Cardiff Blues, Williams follows in the footsteps of some highly acclaimed previous winners, including his regional captain Alun Wyn Jones.

Impressing in defence and attack, he has scored five tries in 11 games for the Welsh All Blacks this season.

A regular with Wales at U20 level, captaining them during this year’s Six Nations, he is only missing out on the World Rugby U20 Championship through injury.

Having played twice in the 2015/16 British & Irish Cup, he featured in every game for the Ospreys Premiership Select this seaon, his five tries in six games including one in each of the two games against London Irish, newly promoted to the Aviva Premiership.

He also made his senior Ospreys debut this season, with one appearance off the bench in the Anglo Welsh Cup against Harlequins at Swansea RFC.
