Ospreys to wear Canterbury from 2017/18

Canterbury and Ospreys Rugby have joined forces to announce an exciting new partnership, which will see Wales’ most successful region wearing Canterbury for the next four years.

  • Ospreys to wear Canterbury from next season
  • Leading kit supplier will also provide kit for Ospreys PS, Ospreys Women and Ospreys Wheelchair Rugby
  • Simon Rowe, Canterbury: "We are proud to be partnering with such an innovative rugby powerhouse"
  • Andrew Millward, Ospreys:  "Canterbury are a byword for quality, they understand the rugby market"

The partnership is a perfect fit for the two brands steeped in rugby history with Canterbury’s combination of tradition and innovation and Ospreys’ desire to push the boundaries on and off the pitch set to take the iconic ‘mask’ to a new level for the upcoming season.

The new agreement will see the 2017/18 home and away jerseys launched in August with the new European jersey launched later in the year.

In addition to the senior team at the Ospreys, Canterbury will also supply the regional age-grade teams, Premiership Select side, Ospreys Women and Wheelchair Rugby, as well as providing an extensive sport and leisure range for supporters.

With 77 clubs in the region, both Canterbury and the Ospreys are committed to working together to support the grassroots game, building greater relationships and offering exclusive benefits for clubs and schools within Ospreylia.

The newly established Canterbury Cup fixture in August 2017 will mark the launch of the partnership, and will see clubs from across the region invited to experience the beginning of this new partnership.

Canterbury’s Head of Sports Marketing, Simon Rowe, said

“The Ospreys are a globally recognised brand, whose on pitch performance has enhanced their success in growing the grassroots game. Their local and global ambition reflects our own brand ethos, with both Canterbury and Ospreys rugby determined to thrive and become leaders within the rugby community.

“We are proud to be partnering with such an innovative rugby powerhouse, and excited about creating kit and training wear that will help players perform on the field, and appeal to supporters in the stands. We also look forward to working with the wider Ospreys community, developing relationships with the clubs and schools that form part of such a successful region”

Andrew Millward, Managing Director, Ospreys Rugby, said:

“Canterbury is, without a shadow of a doubt, the company of choice for any rugby supporter when it comes to kit and equipment, so we are understandably delighted to be able to make this announcement today.

“They are a byword for quality, they understand the rugby market and are passionate about the grassroots game, an outlook that we share at Ospreys Rugby. This a partnership that will be built on those sound foundations, with both parties sharing a progressive and innovative approach to kit design and a desire to work with all levels of the game in the Ospreys region.

“A global leader in their field with a local focus, this partnership is a natural fit for both parties. Everybody knows about the overwhelming success of the Ospreys jersey over the years and, given the quality of the Canterbury product and the continued high performance of the Ospreys on the field this season, then we are anticipating that sales will grow further over the coming seasons.

“We are all extremely excited about this partnership and unveiling our new kit this summer, which we believe our supporters will love.”

To support the partnership and the development of grassroots within the Ospreys region, Canterbury, Principle Partner of the British & Irish Lions, will be offering five lucky children the chance to train with the Lions ahead of the 2017 tour to New Zealand.
