Hanno Dirksen grabbed a quick fire pair of second half tries to help steer the Ospreys to a big win over the Blues,but the winger was quick to deflect praise onto the team effort that secured 5 points
It was a brace of tries that took Dirksen level with Gavin Henson in 7th place in the all-time try scorers list for the region with 24, but talking about them post-match he modestly made them sound oh-so simple.
“I just caught the ball and fell over the line” was his modest recollection of the five minute brace of tries that turned the game on its head just before the hour mark.
“There’s not much to say about what I did, but the boys pulled through. It was a tough first half but Lyd’s pep talk was pretty good and got us firing. Thankfully we managed to score some nice tries and gave the crowd what they came for.”

Dirksen declared that the Ospreys were happy with the outcome after sticking to their task despite the game threatening to get away from them on more than one occasion:
“Half-time was all about sticking to our plan. We were behind but they hadn’t had to do much to get in the lead, we were making mistakes, giving away penalties, and on the day that’s where they got most of their points from.
“We kept going at it, we felt they would break at some stage, and once the tries started coming in the second half, we were able to secure an important win. We are happy with the bonus point.”
Ulster in Swansea will provide a stern challenge next Saturday as the Ospreys look to hunt down sixth place in the PRO12 table and, according to Dirksen, everyone will have to pull together in the right direction next week, on and off the field.
“We’ve got to regroup now and focus on Ulster at the Liberty next week” he said.
“That’s a different challenge again and we know it’s going to be tough.
“It’s important to finish the season off on a high no matter what happens in the other game. It’s not about Munster or Scarlets, it’s about us. If we can put our game together like we did at times in the second half on Saturday, in front of our own crowd, then it’ll be a memorable end to the season.
“Our supporters have been great for us all season as they always are so hopefully there’ll be a big crowd will come next week to get behind us when we need them. It’s going to be a huge game on a big day and hopefully the people who came out today liked what the saw and want some more. It’s going to be an exciting end to the season.”
