Development evenings help community coaches

Twelve community clubs across Ospreylia have played host to a series of free development events aimed at improving the quality of coaching within Under 7 to Under 11 age groups in the region.

All active coaches working within those age-grades were invited to attend the development evenings that focused on areas of the game particularly relevant to their young players.

There were events held at twelve clubs across Ospreylia to enable as many community coaches to attend and receive expert guidance on best practices for coaching age grade rugby.

Matthew Silva, WRU Coach Development Officer for the Ospreys region, who organised the development evenings, commented on their success:

"We're delighted with how the events have gone. There's been a really high turn out across the clubs that have hosted the development evenings and we have been able to speak to a lot of coaches. With the focus being on a particular age group we were able to discuss issues relevant to the coaches working with those specific ages and look at the best ways to encourage and engage as well as teach children."

Events were held at the following venues:

Pencoed RFC

Pontarddulais RFC

Dunvant RFC

Bonymaen RFC

Morriston RFC

Ystradgynlais RFC

Neath Athletic RFC

Bryncethin RFC

Kenfig Hill RFC
