Ardron leads Canada against France

Tyler Ardron will captain Canada in their third Rugby World Cup fixture, against France at Milton Keynes on Thursday evening.

The Ospreys back rower returned from injury to lead Canada in their 23-18 defeat by Italy at Elland Road at the weekend.

Looking ahead to the game, Ardon said:

“We’ve been training well over the last few days, despite having a quick turn-around between games. We were happy with the way we played against Italy, but disappointed in the final result and know that more is needed against France.

“We know that France are going to bring their usual flair and if it becomes an open, expansive game it may play in their favour but I think we have our strengths as well and we plan on using those to create opportunities for us.”

Ardron’s Ospreys team-mate Jeff Hassler remains sidelined with a calf injury sustained in their opening fixture against Ireland.
