Ospreys players visited Pencoed RFC yesterday to help give the clubhouse a fresh lick of paint as part of their ‘Pitch In’ campaign.
The Ospreys have been offering to ‘Pitch In’ and get their hands dirty with any odd jobs, volunteering or good causes in Ospreylia throughout the Six Nations period. Dan Baker, Joe Bearman and Nicky Smith were among the players who joined in with the painting at Pencoed, giving the club-house a new lease of life.
Chris Cadogan from Pencoed RFC, said: “We really enjoyed having the boys turn up and help out for the day. They were really enthusiastic and got stuck in to the painting. Its great to see the players getting involved with the community at a grassroots level, as it provides such a good example for our younger players.”
Andrew Hore, CEO of Ospreys Rugby, said: “It’s important to us to show that we are a community-minded organisation and to reiterate how important our supporters are to us, which is why out ‘Pitch In’ campaign has proved to be so popular. Our players enjoy getting out and about in the community and engaging with our supporters and we are delighted to be able to help the players at Pencoed with their clubhouse project this week.”
The players will be doing one project per week between now and the end of March and are keen for members of the public to get in touch to let them know how they can help out with their initiatives. The Ospreys are welcoming suggestions for suitable projects, and are asking members of the community to nominate individuals, clubs or organisations that will welcome the assistance.
