Ospreys offer clubs chance to host LV

The Ospreys are preparing to play November’s back to back home LV= Cup games against Saracens and the Dragons away from their Liberty Stadium HQ it was confirmed today.

The region went out to its Premiership clubs, and other clubs inside Ospreylia, last month offering them the opportunity to enter a formal tendering process to host one of the two fixtures. Now that all applications have been received, an announcement on what clubs have been successful is expected next month.

The Bridgend Ford Brewery Field has been a regular venue for Ospreys LV= Cup fixtures in recent years, with the ground hosting six games for the region since Leicester Tigers visited in November 2010. The success of those games has driven Ospreys management to offer other clubs the opportunity, based on a fair tendering process.

Andrew Hore, Ospreys Chief Executive, said:

“Our games at Bridgend in the LV= Cup have been a fantastic success for all concerned, allowing the communities across the region to come out and support their team at their ground. Such has been the impact these games have had, that we have been receiving a number of enquiries from other clubs in the region about hosting a match.

“The outcome is that we have invited all interested clubs to submit an application, allowing us to assess all options based on set criteria around the clubs proving that they reach the standards set by the tournament organisers.

“Developing local talent is at the heart of what we do, so it’s good to be able to provide a chance for youngsters to play for the Ospreys at their local club at the heart of their community. We are extremely excited about the prospect of spreading the message right across the region and really getting into the community, not just talking about it.”

The two home LV= Cup games this season are against Saracens on Friday 7th November and then a week later against Newport Gwent Dragons.
