Ospreys pitch in at Seven Sisters RFC

Ospreys players continued their summer long programme of community service throughout the region by lending their support to Seven Sisters RFC on Wednesday.

Players turned out to help club groundsman Hywel Morgan give the spectator barriers and posts around the field a much needed lick of paint, taking a couple of hours to complete a task that Hywel would have spent several days doing on his own.

The Ospreys put a call out to all rugby clubs in the Ospreylia region earlier this summer, offering their services as part of a community outreach programme. They have offered to help with projects from painting and cleaning through to gardening and odd jobs.

The team have also been involved in rubbish and recycling collections throughout the region as a way of saying thank you to their loyal fans.

Rhian Edwards, CSO and committee member of Seven Sisters RFC commented:

“When we heard that the Ospreys were offering to help out at rugby clubs this summer we were keen to take them up on the offer. It’s important to get our facilities looking their best before the start of the season and their help has been much appreciated. They even met some of our junior team players who look up to them and aspire to play for the Ospreys so we’ve really made the most out of the time they have volunteered.”

Dan Baker, Sam Parry, Adam Beard and Tyler Ardron were all present on the day and got their hands dirty with the painting. They even helped out giving the club a general tidy up along with the boys from the junior team.

Andrew Hore, CEO of Ospreys Rugby added:

“We’ve made a concerted effort over the summer to get out and about and give something back to the communities that support us so loyally. We know that the next generation of Ospreys players and supporters are being nurtured in the region’s clubs and building strong links with these clubs is an important part of being a responsible and community-minded organisation. Volunteering our time to help our is our way of showing gratitude for the support that we get from the entire region.”

If any rugby clubs within the Ospreylia region would like to call on the Ospreys for some support in competing unfinished projects they can contact Nick Lockley by emailing nick.lockley@ospreysrugby.com.
