Ospreys launch student deal at Swansea Uni

Ospreys players spent time at Swansea University’s Freshers Week to promote special student season membership packages ahead of the new term.

Students were being tempted with a fantastic value membership package that will allow them to see every home game this season for just £50 – which with 15 home games still to come works out at the incredible price of just £3.33 per match.

Lewis and Grabham were joined by Ashley Beck, Rhys Webb and Hanno Dirksen, and they spent time meeting this year’s new intake of students as they settle in to the region.

Speaking about the ticketing deal, 2012/13 Ospreys players’ player of the year Lewis, who has represented the University first XV said:

“I think it’s brilliant that the Ospreys are reaching out to Swansea University students with a fantastic membership deal like this. I speak to other students and it’s obvious that there is a lot of support for the team here, so anything which can encourage closer links and bring more people to the Liberty week in, week out has to be a good thing.”

The student membership package covers all remaining RaboDirect PRO12 fixtures, including the big derbies against Cardiff Blues, Scarlets and the Dragons as well as the visit of a star-studded Ulster team on Friday 4th October, in addition to three massive Heineken Cup fixtures, against reigning French champs Castres, English giants Northampton Saints, and three times European kings Leinster.

Earlier this year, Swansea University and the Ospreys announced details of an exciting new partnership that has seen the University formally become a part of the region’s groundbreaking development structure, as well as the introduction of a commercial partnership between the two organisations with the University logo appearing on the famous black jersey this season for the first time.

Andrew Hore, Ospreys Chief Executive, said that it was important the region’s student population feel that they are represented by the Ospreys.

“There are more than 15,000 students enrolled with Swansea University, some from a local background others from further afield. Wherever they come from, we want them to feel part of the cause and part of the region.

“We already have a fantastic working relationship with the University, sharing rugby and commercial knowledge and expertise at all levels across the two organisations.

“The student season membership is an obvious next step. We know that students are living to a tough budget, more so now than ever, so to enable them to watch a full season of first class rugby on their doorstep, featuring some of European rugby’s leading teams and best players, for just £50 will, I hope, encourage more students than ever to support their region.”

Swansea University’s successful Welsh Varsity winning team from earlier this year will be the guests of honour at the forthcoming PRO12 game versus Ulster (Fri 4th October, KO 7.05pm) to help launch the student season membership deal.
