O-Zone to launch at Liberty this month

Brand new pre-match family area will open for business ahead of Worcester game

The opening game of the 2013/14 season, against Worcester Warriors at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday 24th August (KO 3.00pm), has been declared a family fun day, with the launch of the brand new O-Zone, a fantastic matchday environment for the family located in the North Stand concourse.

The O-Zone will replace the existing Supporters Village and will provide a season long pre-match destination for young fans, safe from the elements of an Ospreylian winter.

To help launch the O-Zone, and to kick-off the new campaign, there’ll be lots going on ahead of the Worcester match, with activity inside concourse and outside in the compound to the rear of the North Stand.

There’ll be fun and games for children of all ages, including the ever-popular Ospreys rugby themed inflatables and giant garden games including Jenga, Connect Four and Hopscotch.

As well as radio partners the Wave, who will be broadcasting the Chart Show live from their truck with giveaways and games, the O-Zone will also have a special arts and crafts area where young supporters can turn their hands to a wide range of activities including banner making or even writing letters to your favourite Ospreys players.

Ozzie the Osprey will be in attendance while there’ll also be a chance to meet the players, with the matchday squad in the O-Zone between 12.45 and 1.15pm, and non playing squad members mingling with supporters until 2.45pm.

Commercial Manager, Yarnie Guthrie, believes that the O-Zone will prove popular with Ospreylian families:

“We are always looking for ways to improve the matchday experience for all our supporters, and having listened to feedback we have created the O-Zone which will provide a fun and friendly environment for families ahead of kick-off.

“A trip to the rugby these days is about more than just the 80 minutes on the field, and the O-Zone will provide a year round, all-weather option for those coming to the games. It’s an exciting addition to our portfolio, along with successful initiatives like the Worthington’s 2003 Club which has sold out for the coming season, that will help to create a buzz around the Liberty Stadium.

“The Riverside Lounge in the East Stand has developed a reputation as the place for supporters of both teams to meet for a beer post-match to discuss the game thanks to the fantastic efforts of the Ospreys Supporters Club, and that will be the case once again this season. However, in previous seasons it has been underused pre-match and we are encouraging supporters to make the most of the OSC’s clubhouse ahead of the game as well, enjoying a beer with mates in warmth and comfort all season long.”

More details regarding the launch of the O-Zone will be confirmed ahead of the game on the 24th.
