AWJ speaks after being named Lions captain for third test

New British & Irish Lions Test skipper Alun Wyn Jones will be hoping to hang on to his 100 per cent winning record as an international captain when he leads the Lions into the vital third Test in Sydney on Saturday.

The Ospreys captain has led Wales once during his 72 Test career with his home nation - a win in Italy in the 2009 RBS 6 Nations Championship. At the weekend he will head a Lions side containing a record equalling 10 Welsh players as the tourists seek to end their 125th anniversary tour on a high by clinching their first series since 1997.

"Hopefully, I've been selected for the way I play and not necessarily the way I lead, it's as simple as that. I've played from the start of the tour with an eye on getting into the first Test," said Jones, who becomes only the 10th Welshman to captain the Lions in a Test match.

"To be selected in the position I am for the final Test is a pretty special moment for me, but obviously there's still a job to do.

"There's always room for advice, but I've done quite a lot with the Ospreys this season and once with Wales in the past during the Six Nations. I'm fortunate to have been captained by some great men as well.

"Throughout the years you take a little bit of the best from the men above you and hopefully they add to some of the leadership qualities I've got."
