Player visit is the highlight as summer Kids

The first Kids Camps of the summer holidays took place this week, and a flock of Ospreys dropped into to meet with some of the children enjoying the fun at at Llandarcy Academy of Sport.

Home grown Ospreylians Duncan Jones and Ashley Beck were among the players who spent time with the young fans during the first camp on Monday and Tuesday, signing autographs, posing for photos and passing on rugby tips.

The visit is always the highlight of the camps hosted by the Ospreys Community Rugby team in conjunction with our primary sponsors RWE npower renewables, for boys and girls aged 5-11, and aimed at providing an exciting and fun experience for all young Ospreys, in a safe and fun environment.

The duo were joined at the first camp by team-mates including the likes of Jonathan Thomas, James Goode and Barry Davies as they took time out from their busy pre-season training schedule, enjoying their session with the next generation of Ospreys who were understandably thrilled to come into such close contact with their heroes.

The second camp saw Ian Evans, Ian Gough, Tom Smith, Cai Griffiths, Andrew Bishop and Joe Rees swooping in to delight another group of young Ospreys.

Speaking about the visit, Duncan Jones said:

“It’s always great to be able to take part in these sessions. These kids live for their rugby and are so enthusiastic so it’s important that we really encourage them to enjoy the game and develop good habits, which is exactly what these camps are for.

“The community team work hard all year round to promote the Ospreys and rugby development, which is essential if we are going to get more youngsters playing rugby in the region, following in our footsteps to represent the Ospreys in the future.”

Although demand is always high, there are still a limited number of places available at the following camps this summer:
