Eyasses off to a flying start

The Ospreys U16's started their WRU Regional Age Grade season with a 35- 17 victory over the Blues North at Llandarcy Academy Of Sport on Wednesday evening.

They led 11-5 at half time through two penalties from outside half Luke Price and a brilliant individual try from centre Joe Thomas, with scrum half Ashley John scoring a try in reply for the Blues North.

The Eyasses started the second half strongly, resulting in flanker Dafydd Harvey powering over for a try which went unconverted, but the Blues North came back into the game with an unconverted try by hooker Liam Belcher.

Price then extended the Eyasses lead with two further penalties before the Blues North reduced the deficit to five points with second row Matthew Paul crossing for a try converted by outside half Jarrod Evans.

However, the hosts were able to have the final say with two further penalties from Price and a try from full back Lewis Evans, converted by Price, all in the final ten minutes, sealing victory for the Eyasses.

Meanwhile the U18's continued their preparation for the new season with a 22-10 win over a 'Best of the Rest' XV, featuring players from across Ospreylia. Matthew Jenkins, Matthew Burnell and Daniel Howells scored tries for the Eyasses, with Chris Williams touching down twice for BotR.
