Super September is almost here.....

The RaboDirect PRO12 campaign gets underway next week, with the Ospreys hosting Leinster, the first match in a Super September with three games at the Liberty Stadium in the opening month of the new season.

The reigning European champions arrive in Ospreylia on Friday 2nd September (KO 7.05pm), with Edinburgh visiting the following week (Saturday 10th September, 6.30pm), before Ulster provide the opposition on the final weekend of September, on Sunday 25th, for a game that kicks off at 4.30pm.

The three home games in the first four weeks of the new season offer the Ospreys the opportunity to hit the ground running in the new PRO12, and Director of Coaching Scott Johnson said that the Leinster game can’t come soon enough:

“With three games at home during the first month it really is going to be a Super September alright and we’re all looking forward to it. We can’t wait for that first game against Leinster and to get stuck into the challenge.

“We’ve seen plenty of changes here over the summer, we’ve worked hard to prepare, we’re ready for the new season and there’s not long now til the waiting is over. We’ve got a good mix in the squad, some great young kids who have a real opportunity to shine and build on what they achieved when the internationals were away last season, and some experienced, proven team players who can provide the right kind of influence on and off the field.

“Anyone who came to the Russia game would have seen an exciting looking squad playing adventurous attacking footy. They would have enjoyed what they saw on the pitch and that’s what we want to replicate throughout the season. The spirit in the group is good and it promises to be a great time.

“The three teams we are playing during September will each give us a different kind of test, and it promises to be a great month of rugby that any fan would be mad to miss out on.”

Tickets for all three games in Super September are on sale now at the Liberty Stadium Ticket Office, and fans can still make incredible savings against the price of matchday admission by purchasing an Ospreys season-ticket, which starts at £165 for an adult, working out at just £10 a game – and up to four kids can still go free with a paying adult!

Ospreys second row Ian Evans said he’s looking forward to seeing Ospreys fans back at the Liberty Stadium:

“It’s important that our fans come out and support us this season, particularly over the first few weeks when we have three home games during September. We want to do well for our fans and we want to make them proud of us, just as we are proud to wear the shirt and represent the Ospreylian cause.

“There was a good buzz about the place at the Russia game, I think the fans enjoyed the game, and we want to keep that buzz going. Leinster first up will be tough, but with our brilliant fans backing us and the spirit in the camp we definitely want to get the season off to a great start and start the campaign on a high during Super September.”
